Ada100 Tulips
Thousands of tulips are blooming this spring, inspired by Ada Salter’s beautiful planting.
100 Trees for 100 Years
Southwark Council’s tree section is designating 100 new street trees to mark the Salter centenary, to be planted round the area where Ada’s greening of Bermondsey began.
A green walkway for the Salter Cottages
The Salter Centenary has developed a plan to create a green wildlife walkway next to Wilson Grove, the garden cottage estate built by Ada Salter.
Hedges on the Dickens Estate
Hedges have been suddenly appearing around the Dickens Estate during the last few years. In this Salter centenary year we hope to see more hedges greening the whole estate!
Shuttleworth Park
Volunteers from Trees For Bermondsey are working to improve this park with additional hedges and planting. They recently discovered that it was one of Ada’s original designs.
Community Orchard at Rouel Road
A new community orchard is being developed on the Rouel Road estate, with 24 fruit trees surrounded by 135 metres of fruiting hedge.
Joy Slide Orchard for St James’s
St James’s churchyard is welcoming a new children’s orchard created for the Salter centenary. This will complement their new children’s slide.
