‘Red Flag Over Bermondsey - play

The Salter Centenary provided a welcome occasion for this amazing one-woman play about Ada Salter. Written and performed by Lynn Morris, it tells the inspiring story of Ada’s early years in Bermondsey and the tragedy of losing her only daughter to scarlet fever.

Lynn’s brilliant performance was filmed by Olivier Stockman and is now available on the Sands Films website or on Eventive (good for large screen TV).

Lynn and her husband Dave Morris are Quakers, like the Salters. Together they run Journeymen Theatre, writing and performing their own plays on social issues. Lynn has depicted Ada at community theatres and Quaker meeting houses all around the country.

When the play was first performed at Sands in 2016, it made a strong impact with local people feeling very emotional at seeing Ada depicted in the heart of what was her Borough of Bermondsey in the 1920s.

It was a delight to welcome Lynn back and have her final performance given here for the centenary!
