A Salter playgound plan

The playground at Coxson Place was opened in 1921. Perhaps the first designed by Ada, it is now in urgent need of major improvement.

Local parents want to bring it up to 21st century standards. With support from Team London Bridge and the Low Line project, they commissioned an ambitious new landscape design. 200 residents contributed comments. (Some pointed out that it’s wrong to call it Alfred Salter Park!)

The community group has obtained £6,500 for a detailed feasibility study. With a possible cost of £500,000, the project will require serious investment, but the Salters would have agreed that ‘Our children deserve a modern, safe, clean and green space to play.’
