Dulwich U3A (University of the Third Age) has a popular Bike Group led by energetic convenor, John Clements.
In spring John joined the Southwark Cyclists’ bike tour of the Salters’ Bermondsey. Enthused by the story of Ada and Alfred, he arranged an exclusive Salter tour for his Dulwich members.

U3A (University of the Third Age)
is a UK-wide movement with over 1,000 groups of older people who meet together locally to learn for fun. Founded in 1982, it is run by members using their knowledge and experience to teach others. They cover hundreds of different subjects, from art to zoology and everything in between.
The Dulwich & District U3A group was set up in 2014. The Bike Rides Group is one of their 100 or so groups. It meets twice a month for local rides, typically of 10 to 15 riders for trips of about 20 miles. Along the way, they explore the rich tapestry of London, its natural and built environments, (parks and palaces, rivers, canals and docks), and its history and its famous historical figures. But there is always time for coffee and a chat!
Their motto is “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.”
