Cycling the Salter sites of Bermondsey!

Cyclists were invited to join an easy-paced ride around Bermondsey, passing nine sites associated with Ada and Alfred Salter. Planned and led by Bruce Lynn, this Salter Centenary Ride was a special addition to Southwark Cyclists regular programme.

Both the Salters were keen cyclists: Alfred was photographed riding around Bermondsey visiting his patients, and Ada would also regularly cycle to Peckham on Sunday mornings to attend their Quaker meetings.

The ride started/finished in Deal Porter Square, opposite Canada Water Station. The link for making a booking included an annotated route map. Sheila Taylor accompanied the ride and told the riders about each of the sites visited.

See Bruce’s report.
