Podcast by King’s College London

During 2022 students from King's College London worked on two podcasts: The Life and Times of Ada Salter. The idea came from David Green, Professor of Historical Geography, who lives in Bermondsey and is on the Salter Centenary steering group. Funding was provided by the Department of Geography at King's.

This podcast explores the life of Ada Salter and her involvement in social reform in Bermondsey in the late 19th and early decades of the 20th century.  She became renowned for beautifying the district with her pioneering vision of a good city: high quality housing for working people, a clean environment with plenty of trees and open spaces, places for children to play and good standards of hygiene and health.
The podcast was produced and edited by Amelia Parkes with the help of Emily Mair, Natasha Preger, Joe Chick and David Green, and includes interviews with Sheila and Graham Taylor. Music and sound effects: Taylor Haywood, Angela Paulson, ZapSplat.
It was funded by King’s College Department of Geography as part of their own centenary celebrations.
