Festival at Southwark Playhouse

A festival presented by John Whelan, director of the People’s Company community theatre group.
(Dates: 26th, 27th, 28th January 2023)

A new play animating Ada’s story:
This extraordinary Brechtian play took the Salters’ key themes of environment, health and housing, and flashed between the centuries, drawing parallels to contemporary London and looking forward into the future.
3 performances, at the new Southwark Playhouse Elephant, on Dante Place.

Also included in the project are:
* Talks on Ada’s legacy.
* Engagement with local schools.
* An animated tour with actors bringing the history to life on site.
* Training community volunteers in heritage research.
* An exhibition of the volunteers’ research on the social context of the time.
